The Blind Dog Mayer Group presents “Live Studio Session – From The Shadow Of The Castle”, the blues rockers’ first EP—a work dedicated to the many facets of the blues and releases their debut album on Blues Note Records.

The EP offers an impressive taste of their concerts, just as they really are. Blues rock that’s loud, raw, and unvarnished, straight out of a 1970s club, fully dedicated to the diverse facets of the blues. Raw, self-assured, and full of energy. Recorded in the classic power quartet style, the album thrives on raw energy, spontaneity, and pure emotion. Here, it’s not about studio polish, but genuine performance—direct, compelling, and full of passion.

Their original songs are a burst of pure energy: a rousing mix of gritty harmonica blues, dusty hard boogie, danceable Texas blues ’n’ roll, and the timeless spirit of blues rock—that’s their music—just as you’d know it from the smoky jazz and blues clubs of the late ’60s and early ’70s. Straightforward and unvarnished!

Influences from Billy Gibbons, Alvin Lee, and Will Wilde are clearly audible, yet Blind Dog Mayer and his band don’t rely on “copying” but on a fresh, unique stylization of the sound.

>> The song: blues-rock with soul and edge

With “That’s What I Saw,” The Blind Dog Mayer Group delivers the first single from their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Live Studio Session – From The Shadow Of The Castle.’

The blues-rock ballad pays homage to 1970s British blues, reimagined with a modern twist. Blending emotional depth with raw energy, this song is a must-listen for any music editor seeking honest, handmade, no-frills music with character.

The Band: Authentic. Virtuoso. Live.

At the heart of the band is frontman Blind Dog Mayer, whose distinctive voice and virtuoso harmonica playing form the emotional core. He is flanked by Dirk Lenz, whose lead guitar solos send the song soaring into the stratosphere. The rhythm section – Michael Jung (bass) and Marco Schmieden (drums)—provides the unshakable foundation that brings this “modern blues” to life.<<
